Impact of high-speed-rails to change the accessibility of Prague region
Klíčová slova: vysokorychlostní železnice, Česko, Praha, regionální a lokální dopady, časová dostupnost, potenciální dostupnost IMPACT OF HIGH-SPEED-RAILS TO CHANGE THE ACCESSIBILITY OF PRAGUE REGION Abstract The aim of this diploma thesis is to discuss regional impacts of the high-speed railways in the general context with the emphasis on the issue of accessibility changes. Furthermore, the thesis concentrates on comprehensively description of changes in availability of Prague after the high-speed rail system in Czechia will be...
Selected factors of mode choice on the Prague-Munich route in the context of the planned high-speed rail construction
Petříček, Jakub ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Chmelík, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to define in more detail a safety factor, a factor of passage of time and an ecological behaviour factor influencing the mode choice on the Prague-Munich route in relation to railway as a reference mode, and to estimate the change in mode choice after HSR completion with emphasis on defined factors. The work qualitatively analyzes the sets of ideas and understandings of selected factors, which in turn affect the travel behavior and the mode choice. Defining these factors creates space for estimating and proposing perspectives for the development of expected travel behavior in the context of the planned HSR system on the Prague-Munich route. The presented thesis discusses and interprets the comparison of selected factors between existing modes of transport. The significance of the thesis lies in the understanding and definition of selected factors that are important for HSR planning strategies between Prague and Munich. Keywords: high-speed rail, travel behaviour, transport safety perception, perception of time, grounded theory, theory of planned behavior
Assessment of Changes of the Modal Split in Connection with the Construction of High Speed Railway Prague-Brno
Koukal, Martin ; Květoň, Viktor (advisor) ; Kvizda, Martin (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to discuss the assessment of changes of the modal split in connection with the construction of high speed railway Prague-Brno. Thesis is aimed on wider context of two theoretical concepts in transportation researches: travel behaviour and the value of travel time. Data collection took place in the form of "Paper and Pencil Interview" method. For a deeper analysis was used the Pivot Table tools. From the collected data was found that economically active people from coaches and trains have higher travel time than students. Among cars users the most important factor influencing the choice of traffic mode is the speed, for coach users it is price and for train users the posibility of work/rest during the journey. Assuming a reduction of travel time between Prague and Brno for about 1 hour while keeping the fare price about CZK 200, high-speed rail connections has the potential to generate more frequent journeys among existing passengers. Keywords: modal split, travel behaviour, the value of travel time savings, competitiveness of railways, high speed railway

High-speed Rail in the Czech Republic from the Perspective of Passengers
Kratochvíl, Petr ; Mervart, Michal (advisor) ; Červinská, Veronika (referee)
This Master's Thesis deals with high-speed rail in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes the history, the evolution and the present of high-speed rail and presents the successful foreign high-speed rail systems. Furthermore this part presents the high-speed railway tracks which are planned in the Czech Republic. The practical part researches the perception of high-speed rail by passengers. Based on the result of the survey, which was realized via the questionnaire, it analyses the criteria that passengers consider important in the choice of means of transport and it looks into passenger willingness to accept higher fare for shorten of travel time. With using the result of the survey it also deals with competitiveness of high-speed rail compared with other modes of transport. The aim of the Thesis is determine whether high-speed rail is attractive from the perspective of passengers and whether it is able to compete with other modes of transport.
Competitiveness of rail in long-distance passenger transport
Knotek, Lukáš ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Novotný, Jan (referee)
This master's thesis describes the current state of passenger rail transport and the most important long-distance projects in Europe in the 20th century. It also deals with current changes in the European rail market and its further development. The aim of this master's thesis is to analyze the state of long-distance rail passenger transport in the Czech Republic and abroad, a general view on the high speed rail, which is described in terms of its development, technology, benefits and costs and the analysis of the competitiveness of high speed rail compared to air transport from a user's perspective. This thesis also solves possible relations between high speed rail and other means of transport and whether high speed rail could be competitive in the Praha -- Brno line.
High-speed rail in the European Union and the analysis of Thalys
Jakubec, Martin ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Letocha, Dušan (referee)
The thesis compares high-speed rail with other means of transport for the purpose to identify its main advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore, it determines the scope within which high-speed rail is fully competitive on the transport market. The position of high-speed rail in the European Union is also outlined further in the thesis. These findings are then used to thoroughly analyse the international high-speed system Thalys.
Development of high-speed rail transport in Spain
Fujdlová, Simona ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Hrabaň, Adam (referee)
This thesis describes the position of rail transport in Spain and focuses mainly on the current development of high-speed rail transport. Attention is paid to the AVE system, which is operated by the newly built infrastructure, but also to the other high-speed trains to run on conventional lines with Iberian gauge. The aim is to highlight the progress achieved in this area, capture a network built and planned high-speed lines, the transition to neighboring states and the process of integration of Spain into the Trans-European transport networks. In analyzing the tariff policy, the paper deals with basic and preferential tariffs applied by Renfe Operadora in the sphere of high-speed long-distance passenger trains.
High-Speed Railways in Spain
